    Summary

He knew that her parents weren’t around, though he didn’t know why. He knew she took care of her sister. But, he wondered, who took care of her? Mohan, probably. And Santos. Even Whittaker to an extent. Well, sign him up. Put him in, Coach. He’d take care of her, too.

Or: all the ways Frank Langdon takes care of Mel King.

he's put in place three rules for himself since returning to the emergency department: be transparent when handling drugs, spend as much time with mel as possible, and stay out of trinity santos' business.

he doesn't mean to break rule three. he really doesn't.

(or, mel and santos try to be friends. it doesn't go as well as they had hoped.)

    Summary

Frank comes back around the car and fishes something out of his pocket. The Livesavers. "Well, good night. Race home safe."

Mel watches him step closer and slide the mints into the right front pocket of her jeans with two fingers. She feels his fingers through the thin fabric of her pocket, feels his knuckles and the length so clearly inches from where she really wants them, it drives her insane.

Then he pulls his fingers out, the mints resting against her thigh, and slips past her.

"I don't race," she says, voice hoarse.

He throws her a look and grins over his shoulder before disappearing down the stairs.
