Luke wasn’t conscious but that whispering sense of urgency in the Force told him that there was still time to be late and miss his chance to save him. It was terrifying - he knew what it felt like to be late. He’d held his dying mother in his arms and watched the life go out of her, knowing in his heart it would have been different if he’d just arrived sooner.

    Vader didn’t think he or anyone else here would survive if he was forced to hold his son and watch him die as well."
