Alex resisted the urge to laugh at the poor thing. He’d never seen him this flustered.
“Pete, come on. You’ve got to be kidding me,” he said, grinning at him. “That Harley kid is practically drooling over you.”
“Me?”
“I don’t see any other teenage boys that he was flirting with,” Kiara shrugged.
“That- that wasn’t flirting.”
Damian threw back his head and laughed.
“Dude. He literally walked his redneck ass down here to tell you that Captain America is making dinner when he could have easily just told Friday to tell you or texted you himself.”
“He was just being polite,” Peter huffed, refusing to look anyone in the eye. “Besides, there’s no reason for him to like me anyway.”

Part 2 to the Internverse series! It's finally here!! I highly recommend reading the first work in this series (Coincidences and Superheroes), otherwise there are a lot of things that won't make sense.

There was a kid in his lab.
This would not be abnormal if not for One: The Kid was not wearing a badge, Two: The Kid was in a lab you had to swipe your badge to get into, a lab in which Shayne himself had never seen The Kid in before, and Three: The Kid seemed right at home shuffling through chemicals and was currently elbow deep in a ventilated cabinet full of volatile organic compounds. This meant one of two things.
One: The Kid was a highly skilled thief who managed to not only get past security in the lobby and make their way up to the 35th floor without tripping any alarms or caught by any number of personnel, but also managed to get past a very, very good security system to get into a random chemical lab to steal what appeared to be carbon tetrachloride, or-
Two: The Kid was permitted to be in the building and allowed to walk into any room without a badge.
Shayne was leaning toward the first option, personally, given the absolute and total unlikelihood of the second.

Summary
There were many theories about his identity (some more ridiculous than others) but the fact was, none of the SI workers actually knew which one was true. And that’s why they all settled on calling him The Kid.
It’s not like he was really secretive or didn’t talk to anybody. It was quite the opposite actually. He was very talkative and his mouth seemed to never shut up. But he just rarely was in one place long enough to have a longer, meaningful conversation about his identity with anybody. Or he talked so much that nobody had an occasion to ask him any questions.
So he stayed a secret to everyone working in the tower. Until, one day, to everyone’s surprise, he came to SI with a field trip from Midtown High.

“Yeah,” Clint spoke again, “I thought I was the only one with a secret family. Turns out you’ve had one longer than me!”

Peter gets to spend all summer living in Avengers Tower with Tony. When the Rogue Avengers get pardoned and come back to live at the Tower too, they're confused as to who Peter is. However, once they see how Tony acts around Peter, that confusion goes away, as they know for certain who Peter must be - Tony's secret son.
Tony and Peter decide to make the most of the situation, and play along. They hope they can keep up the act all summer. But they soon learn that they barely have to act at all.Series
