Ezri tries not to be shy in remembering. It’s self-destructive. They are her memories. She isn’t just Ezri anymore, but instead part of what will hopefully be an unbroken string of consciousness and belief and memory stretching through centuries. The next host will do the same with what Ezri lives and remembers. The memories are hers to revel in or shrink away from, whatever comes most naturally.

It's been seven years since the end of the Dominion War, five years since Garak last saw Doctor Bashir. At a peace conference on Earth, Garak is framed for a crime he did not commit by Doctor Bashir and is taken to a black site run by Section 31.
He and Miles O'Brien will have to figure out how to break free, clear Garak's name, and unravel the mystery of what happened to Bashir when he joined Section 31 five years ago.

These damn Cardies, Miles had said. Put me through all those medical procedures when they’re planning to execute me anyway. Didn’t have the decency to just kill me.
Something in that conversation had stuck with Julian, and was stubbornly refusing to get unstuck. It was only that… well. That part of Miles’ report, with the chair and the samples and the holding his head still, had put him in mind of some difficult patients he’d had in the past. One thought led to another, and he’d started picturing a very particular difficult patient under those too-bright lights. Not in the chair, exactly, or maybe, if he could be wrestled into it?
None of this was anywhere near appropriate to voice aloud, which is why he was halfway through the question before he realised he’d opened his mouth.

A Cardassian needed nothing outside of the nourishment of the homeland. They sustained the motherland, and in turn, she sustained them. Summary
Julian gets the message when he’s away in one of the outer provinces, helping to organize the staff of a recently rebuilt hospital, because of course he does.
He had noticed Garak coughing a couple of times before he left, had set the back of his hand to one cool gray cheek and found it neither warm nor chilled, and frowned thoughtfully.
“You feel fine, but I’d still like to do a scan,” Julian said.
“You’ll do no such thing; you’re running behind as it is,” Garak had replied, which really should have been Julian’s cue to force the issue.

After years of living together on Cardassia Prime, Garak begins to succumb to Perek Syndrome, a disease caused by feelings of unreciprocated love. With his friend refusing both surgery or divulging the cause, it's up to Julian to find another form of treatment before it's too late.

His vision goes fuzzy, he chokes a bit more than he'd like on the still air, and then—as always—he is fine. More than most, in fact, Miles is prepared.
If only any of it made a difference. At the very least, there are people who love him.
