Summary
People say that those three words are everything, but Church thinks the everything in them is how they’re said:
The way Tucker said it was slurred, with warm skin and loose limbs.
The way Carolina said it was quiet, lost, and unsure, with tense shoulders and tight lips.
The way Tex said it was tired and flat, with slumped shoulders and empty eyes, as if the words drained the life from her.
The way Washington says it is unforgettable.

Summary
Church’s very existence is like a glitch in the fucking matrix.
Donut, meanwhile, has always been the odd one out. He doesn’t frown when Grif and Simmons are too lost in themselves to pay attention to him. He doesn’t hate himself or get moody and upset when he gets lost in a conversation and winds up making no sense. He just shrugs, moves on, and continues to welcome everyone who comes within five feet of him with a smile and open arms.
Church has made it a regular hobby to come within five feet of him.

Summary
Sheila takes pride in knowing Tex that well. Not many people do, and it’s truly an honour to be one of the few capable of getting through her shell and into her true heart and soul. Not that Tex puts a mask on around others, no, she’s too honest for that. But she takes her softer side and keeps it hidden, almost curls protectively around it. And while Sheila loves Tex’s cooler, tough self - after all, it’s the part of her she first fell in love with - she loves the amount of love and kindness in her heart much more.
Really, she just loves all of Texas.

Summary
A bright flash from Epsilon that has her squeezing her eyes shut for a moment, and when she opens her eyes again, the pale blue has been replaced by purple. An ugly, grey purple, on a projection that stands tall and straight, staring at Carolina. No, staring through Carolina.
“…Omega?” Carolina asks, going tense, reaching for her gun.
Omega disappears, and not even a second later, a hologram projection appears in front of her that has her throat going dry.
Black armour, a shift to her hips, a hand on the hip jutting out, tapping the armour on her thigh. Her head is cocked, looking almost bored.
And then she speaks.

Summary
Church sits out on the balcony in his hotel room, struggling to light a cigarette in the late-night breeze. Ever since landing this morning, he’s been frantically ushered from meeting to meeting, and has had no time to sit down and relax since his fifteen minute lunch break.
And while Beijing is nice, Church has only been here a day and he’s already homesick. He checks his watch. Wash should be awake, he could call him. But… he’s worried calling him would only make him even more depressed.
So, with a sigh, he clicks his phone off and pockets it. Then he proceeds to suck on his cigarette and stare out at the beautiful view of the foreign city laid out in front of him. And, listen, most of the time? He can appreciate how lucky he is to be here, in this fancy hotel, on the opposite side of the world, representing his entire company.
But right now he just wants to go home.

Summary
“Fuck you,” Church spits reflexively even though he abruptly, intensely wants to be on his knees in front of her. He’s a contrarian little bitch like that. Can’t ever make anything easy.
Tex doesn’t like easy, though. She likes hard. Slaps hard, too.
