The source of his confusion and sudden paralyzed state of mind has his chin on his shoulder and arms looped around his waist, but the cause of his sudden apraxia remains to be those words.
"I love you," has Avery humming, continuing with his attempts in cooking an omelet with a smile. The words slip through his ears like water through his fingers. Derek is sat on the kitchen table with a convincing look on his face. Somehow Avery finds it hard to swallow those words when they seem so easily said, so he grins.

Bruce had told him to take a break from Robin in order to spend some time at home with his dad, and Tim can’t say no to that. He knows Bruce is probably glad to be rid of him for a short while.

"Crap!" the food truck worker shrieks in alarm. "Don't hurt him, Superman, he's just a kid!"
Clark . . . pauses, then looks up from the kid that he is currently pinning into the street as said kid struggles underneath him.
"'Hurt him'?" he asks in reflexive confusion, and then realizes how batting a teenager around like a person-shaped cat toy and pinning him to the street hard enough to crack it probably actually looks to an outside observer.
. . . um.
Whoops.
"Um," he starts awkwardly, and then the kid slips his pin while he's distracted and throws his arms around his neck with a gleeful laugh and a bright grin.
"Dad!" he crows triumphantly, and hugs Clark harder than literally anyone has ever hugged him before.

Clark kicked open the door to his house, holding a book high above his head, and screaming for his parents.
“Ma!” He calls, the book of human anatomy one of those big picture versions, that show all the medical information of the insides, what each organ does, and where it’s placed in the body, “Pop!”
It’s been checked out of the school library this week during reading time, and Clark had picked the book out of pure curiosity, wanting to know more about everything. It was big and bright and colorful and had a lot of interesting facts.
The most interesting of course, being-
“I DON’T HAVE THE RIGHT TINKLE PARTS!”

Mako should have known better than to trust his brother to set him up on a blind date. For one, Bolin was about as straight as they came and probably wouldn’t know an attractive guy from a lamp post. For another, he was big on enthusiasm but often short on the details. Such as giving Mako any helpful information about the man he was supposed to be meeting tonight. The lack of any physical descriptors was a fact he hadn’t quite registered until he found himself standing outside a coffee shop absolutely chocked-full of men. Any one of whom could be his date tonight.
Or, Iroh isn't Mako's blind date but wishes he was.
