Sonic would only need to hibernate for three months.
That’s what he had to keep reminding himself as Sonic went kicking into hibernation. His only other comfort, besides a cozy burrow hidden away from the prying world, was the favor he’d asked of his long-time rival, Shadow. With hybrid genetics and Chaos in his veins, Shadow wouldn’t need to bed down for the winter storm of the century.
Just three months without the blue hedgehog. That was it.
Shadow only managed two weeks before he went to check on him.

“For our own sake, don’t consider such a possibility,” Shadow said while entering his phone number into the phone, more because he wanted to get this over with and less because he wanted to do so.
“Nah, no, too late. Everything that’s gonna happen after this is gonna be your fault.” Sonic said in reply, grabbing the phone away quickly like Shadow was going to break the phone if it was in his hands for even a second longer.
(Shadow might have done that, if he was being honest.)
or Shadow misspoke, and Sonic got an idea and suddenly made it his life mission; fortunately for the black hedgehog, the Chaotix could help him solve the mystery that followed soon after the revelation.

Summary
Shadow was a complete open book on if it came down to it, would he be there if Sonic needed him? But that didn't matter, because at the end of the day regardless if Shadow was there or not, Sonic would save the world and make it safer for his friends, including him.
Yet the other hedgehog never seemed satisfied with it and Sonic could not exactly place why. If Shadow was so distasteful about the world being saved, why help save it?

Check the trigger warnings they are no joke, but also as emotionally painful (and so extremely embarrassingly reliable) as it was, I loved this. Like at lot. Easily in my top 10, I love complexly written and real feeling character takes, this rules.

Summary
Whenever one is in trouble, the other comes running. Sonic gets a text from Rouge saying Shadow is in trouble, coming to his aid Shadow seems to have found himself bound to a golden cuff. As Sonic has come to the rescue to save his rival, he too, is entrapped in this gold cuff. Conjoined together, and now figuring out how to get it off. With the only knowledge that could help them get it off in the hands of the white bat.

Holy moly, inCREDIBLE fic. 💕💙🥪🖤💕
In my top 5, maybe even top 3 favorite sonadow fics, I LOVED this. Incredible characterization of everyone and a great and believable balance of angst and humor, just 1000000/10. (Also I like this take on commander tower, I dont think I've read something like that before)(Also also, the little chapter breaks are wonderful, chapter breaks my beloved💕)
I know a fic is good where I say "I wanna board this" or "I wanna draw this" every single segment, like if I actually did it everytime I said it, I'd just end up accidentally making a fully animated fan short of the whole tthing.Anyway MUST READ!!! And come back to to re-read!!
