“I don’t permit lanky numbskulls into my bed to knock into me.” Damian pushed his hand back and jabbed Jonathan with his elbow once it was free.
“Wait like— you’ve never shared a bed?”

Dick wanted to be offended, but he knew what Damian had meant. He’d had the option for sympathy, overzealous by his standards, but Dick’s regular currency.
“You should get back to sleep, if you can. It’s almost morning.” Dick hummed at him, leaning over to the light again.

“You’ve lost your fucking mind, old man.” He almost laughed. The blink of optimism tucked away in him caught a glimpse at the father he once knew.
Bruce returned his half-laugh, like neither were themselves. “Tell me something I don’t know, Jaybird.”
There it was– concrete proof Bruce was not in control of his faculties. The nickname Jason had had all those years ago– but Bruce hadn’t called him that in ages. Bruce hadn’t said anything affectionate to him since they’d faced off– since he admitted to killing.

Kyoshi gathered herself, crossed the distance in two steps, and caught Rangi in a fierce hug. Pressed her cheek to the top of her hair, drew in the flowery scent, the soft strands against her skin, the solid warmth of Rangi's body.
“I thought you weren't back for a week,” she breathed. Felt oddly that she might cry. The past days had wound her tight as the skin of a drum. She could feel each of her muscles begin to relax in Rangi's arms, catching up to safety, to the feeling of being home.

Summary
In a universe filled with platonic and romantic soulmates, it was not unusual to have soulmarks. Dick Grayson had plenty. However, when he was a teenager, he received a new soulmark: a bird with an injured, wrapped wing right on the palm of his hand. Over the next few years, he met new people, created new bonds, became Nightwing, and tried to live his life. Everything was going relatively okay, or as okay as it can be when you're a vigilante and the son of a billionaire, but he couldn't stop thinking of the unknown, unbonded bird whose mark he watched with great interest, pain, and longing.
Meanwhile, in Nanda Parbat, a young child by the name of Damian al Ghul, the prince of a cult and a trained assassin, was born with a sleeve of soulmarks. He never met them and had no plans to do so. Then finally after beating his mother in a duel, she agreed he would be allowed to meet his father. What he wasn't expecting was for her to ship him off and fully abandon him in Gotham.
