He'd achieved that very limited goal, but it was embarrassing how close it had been.
On November 4, 2012, Elaine Barrish won the election by a landslide. Throughout her entire campaign, TJ felt as if he was running a marathon of drug avoidance, keeping clean until the election, making sure he didn't fuck up his mother's chances with yet another overdose she'd have to hide from the press. But then she won, and he felt like he'd broken the ribbon at the end of the race, like he didn't have to try anymore. So, he didn't.
TJ Hammond managed to wait until his mother was elected President to fall off the wagon. But now that he's in rehab, he's going to need friends to help him figure out what to do with the rest of his life.
