Like Richie suggested, his salary would make up a good portion of their debt and after receiving the silent treatment, she began to see him less and less around the restaurant. Good. She was tired of seeing his mopey ass blue eyes around her. Some nerve he had. He was the one leaving her! Richie told her she was being too tough but she didn’t give a fuck. Cousin wasn’t gonna get him out of this one. Not this time.
She slips on the dress, the open back makes her shiver but she feels… good. Hot, sexy even if she dared go there. Maybe she would meet someone. But for now, her sights were set on enjoying her night out with her girls.

“So our first Valentine’s Day together and we did absolutely nothing. We’re so shit at this Syd.” His bright eyes look at her with mild regret.
“We did exactly what I wanted, which was to have a fully booked out house the entire week, so I’d say we’re doing pretty good. And only a minor meltdowns so I’d say success.” She blows out the smoke and then passes it back to him.
He pushes his long curls out of his eyes again. “Are we one of those annoying chef couples?”
“I think so dude.” She pushes his hair off his forehead and kisses him quickly on the lips. “We’ve got to do something about this hair.” She tugs at it at the roots and little and a small sigh leaves his lips.
“I love when you do that so I don’t really wanna cut it yet.”
“I know. Wait, I think I have an idea. You come with me tonight once we wrap up here.”
“An idea? Syd it’s like midnight, I know you wanna sleep.”
“It’ll be quick, and not like you lied you would be last night when you-”
“Ah I got it. Yeah c'mon let’s hurry so we can get home.” He taps her ass lightly as he rushes her back into the restaurant.

This added benefit to their relationship started six months ago. Carmy working in his signature fitted white tee, his muscles rippled from his biceps more than normally as he opened a jar for Sydney. She was in a tank top, braids gathered in a bun at the top of her head. His eyes trailed the sheen of sweat building on the smooth skin of her lithe neck and down the front of her décolletage. It wasn’t supposed to be sexy. She wasn’t trying to seduce.
“Why you staring at me?” Sydney looks up at him, brown eyes full of wonder, as he pulls her from the flour she was mixing.
“Why you staring at me?” He replied skin at the base of his neck immediately flushing with embarrassment at being caught by her.
“Nuh uh. I asked you first Carm. What’s up? Do I have something on my face?”
“No Syd. Not at all. Remember what I said about caring about everything more than anything.”
“Yeah of course. We’re getting that star.” She winked as she reached up to grab something else from his cabinets, her top rising up exposing the soft expanse of brown skin.
“But never more than you care about yourself. Are you taking care of yourself Syd?”
