    Summary

And all he could think, through the blur of pain and tears, was how badly he wanted his father to find him.

Lo’ak clawed at the steel again, desperation giving his hands a wild strength. He tried prying the jaws apart with his fingers, then bracing his other foot against the trap to shove it open. Nothing budged. The teeth only bit deeper when he pulled too hard, sending a fresh wave of white-hot pain ripping through his leg.

After a heated argument drives a wedge between father and son, both Jake and Lo’ak are forced to confront the depth of their bond. What begins as a clash of stubborn wills transforms into a test of trust, love, and survival, as Jake fights to reach his boy in time—and Lo’ak learns just how far his father will go to protect him.

    Summary

“I don’t get it,” Lo’ak muttered, tossing a loose fiber aside. “He never talks about Earth.”

Neteyam paused. Just for a moment.

“He talks about it,” he said, though there was less certainty in his voice than usual.

“Yeah,” Lo’ak said, pushing a loose fiber through the weave with unnecessary force, “but not really. Not like he talks about here. Or about Toruk. Or about us.”

    Summary

“Do you ever wish you could see Uncle Tommy?” Lo’ak asks. “The way you see Neteyam?”

Jake’s eyes find the glowing orb that he knows is Earth’s sun. He can’t stop the flood of memories that fills his mind of Tommy – the only family he had for most of his time on Earth. The person he’d loved most in the world before he’d met Neytiri and had his kids.

There would never be a moment where he didn’t miss him and wish he could be here too.

There are so many things Jake wishes he could say to his twin brother and it kills him that he will never get the chance to say them. The only comfort he has is how much he sees himself and his brother in Lo’ak and Neteyam. And while he hates the fact that some patterns have repeated, it gives him hope that the cycle can still be fixed.

“Every day, kid. Every single day.”

Or: an exploration of the similarities and differences between the two pairs of Sully Brothers.

    Summary

Jake opens his eyes as Lo'ak reaches up and wraps his five tiny fingers around Jake’s pinky. Love explodes from the depth of his heart and his breath stutters a bit with the force of it. His brain can’t help but jump into the future – imagining Lo’ak as a toddler, a child, a teenager, and then a man. The years feel both endless and fleeting at the same time.

This is his child. And while he looks at his son and sees himself, he vows right here and now to make sure his son never makes the same mistakes he did. Lo’ak will be better than Jake.

Or: an in-depth exploration of Jake and Lo'ak's relationship Before, During, and After the Way of Water from Jake's POV.
