“Just got the word from the officials, Metros are shutting Miitka down for the night," LeClaire says almost dispassionately. “Third period we’re up against,” LeClaire consults his clipboard, “Shane Hollander. Drafted 2009, current starter for the Laval Maples, posts a .905 save percentage.”

Ilya stays where he is, rolling the name around in his head once, without much interest.

    Hollander.

    Doesn’t ring a bell.

Inspired by that one twitter post, what if Shane was a goalie?

    Summary

Shane Hollander is just trying to survive NYU biochemistry, hockey practice, and the graveyard shift at 7-Eleven. He's too exhausted to notice that his new regular customer is Russian mafia, or that Ilya's interest in him goes beyond terrible coffee and cookies.

When Ilya hands him a $10,000 designer scarf and matching gloves, Shane doesn't panic. He sells them for next month's rent. Any normal person would be terrified. Instead, Shane uses the leftover money to buy a Hello Kitty watch, pastel pink, childish, utterly incongruous with the danger circling him. He wears it to his next night shift without irony or apology.

Ilya notices immediately. He is fascinated.

    Summary

Shane Hollander has a plan: 11 games left, then seventy-three days alone at the cottage to reset. No people, no stress, no suppressants. His body will fix itself.

Except his suppressants are failing faster than he realizes. His new linemate Ilya keeps showing up—in hotel rooms, on his line, in the spaces Shane usually keeps empty. And Ilya notices things. The way Shane's scent is changing. The way he's slowing down.

Shane counts down to the cottage like it's salvation.

But Rozanov doesn't keep his distance. And Shane's control is slipping.

    Summary

"You will bend for me many times, I think, before this production is over."

Shane means to say no. He means to tell Ilya Rozanov—arrogant Bolshoi principal dancer and professional pain in his ass—to fuck off and stop moving set pieces without permission. Instead, he ends up on his knees in a dressing room, which is definitely not how the Royal Winnipeg Ballet’s stage manager is supposed to handle conflict resolution.

Three weeks until opening night. One impossible rivalry. And absolutely no way this ends well.

or: Ilya comes to Winnipeg for The Nutcracker. Shane tries very hard to hate him. The mind-blowing hate-sex doesn’t help.
