It’s nice. He’s having fun. He swears he is. He thanks Control relentlessly, and even when Control says to stop he still thanks her. How long has it been since he was out on the tracks? How long has it been since he was out of the station, since he started shunting? And the look on Momma’s face when he says he has a delivery, or has to grab the coaches because they’re all leaving soon, him included, makes him dizzy with happiness.
But Rusty still isn’t allowed to whistle.
