After the Gerard incident, Stiles was hurt. It took Scott the whole night to realize it, and even then he still prioritized Allison over him. Knowing this wasn’t something he could just brush off, Stiles wanted to take the three months of summer to figure out where he stood in all his relationships. After the Kanima, Jackson didn’t know how to deal with the blood on his hands, and his relationship with Lydia was rocky at best. With only a fragile understanding of his new abilities, he needed to figure out what his future looked like.
Lydia kept finding dead bodies around town, and now that she knew the supernatural was real, she understood she wasn’t just the secret genius rich girl who could get any boy in Beacon Hills anymore. She was something else—and she needed help figuring out what.

“W’s… What…” Stiles’ voice slurred, “Dad– … forgot-me.” His head slammed back down into the carpet.
Noah stared down at him like he’d failed as a parent, “Get the hell up, kid. You’ve got school. Against your most hopeful belief, summer didn’t last forever.” Stiles felt sick. He couldn’t do this shit. “You’re a Sophomore, now, kid,” the Sheriff said, a little louder, nudging Stiles with his foot, “Don’t make me regret teaching you to drive. I’m not helping you get to school anymore. It’s time to grow up.”
His voice was fading, his footsteps creaking away, and Stiles just huffed as he muttered into the dust floating past him, little sunbeams shooting past his head, “I did the growing up already.”
“And stop wasting my printer ink!” Noah called out as he left, “That crap isn’t cheap!”

Summary
