It had been a long time since anything had happened between them. More than a decade. Zhenya sometimes thought about it when he was alone at night, but most of the time, he had the team, and he had Sid on the ice. For now.
(The Pittsburgh Penguins are close to clinching a spot in the 2026 Stanley Cup playoffs. Zhenya is having a resurgence in the waning twilight of his career, and Sidney Crosby is having an existential crisis.)
