Eddie had flashed a tight smile that was maybe, if Buck was being generous, twenty percent genuine. Buck’s pretty sure he wasn’t supposed to see it; he only just glanced at it in the rearview by chance.
Eddie gestured to the crystal-white sides of the trail they were navigating and the billow of steam from the exhaust pipe coming out behind them as the tires crunched through rapidly-hardening snow. "Think I got the memo on that one."
"No," Buck said flatly, and cut his eyes from the mirror, "you haven’t. Not yet."
