Steve called out to someone who could no longer hear him, no longer see him. He shook Eddie’s shoulder, wanting the light to come back into those eyes, collapsing onto Eddie’s chest as he let the sobs wrack his body, guilt and grief swirling around in inside his stomach as his life seemed to split into two: the half with Eddie in it, and the half without.

He was absolutely fine. Like he'd said, today was a normal day. Full of normal things, and normal friends, and normal routines.
It was also the day Obie had yanked his heart out of his chest and then used his own design to try and murder him with, but who the hell cared about that? If he decided to freak out on the date that every bad thing ever happened, he'd be a mess.

After awhile the fight started to wear down the cowboy. His shoulders ached as the weight of the sword worked muscles usually underutilized. Sweat glistened off Jed's forehead as he steadied his stance, bringing the sword closer to his chest.
Octavius, on the other hand, looked magnificent. He was panting but the smile on his face showed that he was still abound with energy. "Getting tired, old friend?"
Jed let out a chuckle, laughing through huffs of breath. He rolled his shoulders back and shook out his arms. "Oh, I'm just getting started, partner."
