Harry notices the freckles the first time they meet, the light dusting across Ron's face as he stands there in his maroon knitted jumper with the yellow R in the centre. If Harry didn't know any better, he'd swear he could trace the tendrils of a lightning bolt from Ron's nose down to his cheek. Something warm settles in Harry's chest at the knowledge that, perhaps, Ron carries a piece of Harry, no matter how unknowingly. In which the war has ended, and safe is suddenly the word on everyones lips. Except Poe doesn't feel safe. He feels overwhelmed by the leadership role thrust upon him and lost in thoughts about Rey and Finn and how far away they feel even when they're holding his hand.
Admitting you love someone in the midst of being broken is hard.
