Summary
Jon could not remember anything of his past, only that he was left at an alehouse in a corner of the Winter town closest to the shadows of the Great Keep. He grew up watching the snow melt on the battlements and the guards rotating every few hours. And on the occasion where he visited the inner courtyards to accompany his keeper, often he would see a boy with hair as red as the weirwood leaves, and his heart would flutter strangely.
It wasn't until news of their liege lord beheaded by the Southern King that the boy, only four-and-ten in age and suddenly a lord called the banners, and the realm bled at the seams.
Jon followed the camps, as suggested by his keeper, intending only to serve the best he could. He did not think that he would soon be the boy lord's favorite to warm his tent.
