Brackett finally let go of Roy's hand with a sigh. "Alright, I guess that's all I can get out of you today. Stand on the scale before you go, and I'll be happy."
Roy sighed in relief and hopped off the table, no splint, no wrap, not even an ace bandage on the wrist. Nothing seemingly wrong with him despite the lengthy inspection from one overzealous Dr. Brackett.
"Always the dang scale," Johnny muttered.
Roy shot him a look, "You wanna trade?"
"Yeah, no thanks."

~~/~@"You feel it, right?" Chet murmured a few evenings later, sitting at the dining table with Marco. He shuffled a deck of playing cards and dealt them back and forth.
Marco nodded, didn't even try to pretend he didn't understand. Everyone's focus, whether they meant it to be or not, was on the novelty of Roy. He wasn't new, they've known him for years, but he felt new. Like their brains knew him and their bodies didn't.
"It's like…" Chet struggled, brow furrowed slightly. "Like I've known him for years and I'm only just now meeting him. It's messed up."

Station 51 has to learn how to deal with new information and new feelings as Roy can't hide his omega status or suppress his scent anymore. Working a very dangerous job with an omega that they feel very connected to, there are new instincts that need a place to land as they navigate their way through it. Meanwhile, Roy's old trauma from Vietnam feels very fresh now that he is exposed, no longer able to hide himself behind medication, surrounded by a station full of alphas.Series

You know how old people always say stuff like "There weren't so many autistic people back in my day" and you know it's bullshit because they just weren't diagnosed, they just had quirks that everyone accepted? yeah... that.
So this is a self-indulgent sandbox au I'm going to write and play in.... in which Roy Desoto is one of those "not autistic" but totally actually autistic people that they talk about. And Johnny lives in his back pocket, so he totally notices and he loves every little new thing he learns about Roy because obviously he loves Roy and just hasn't realized or said it yet.
