Summary
“It’s not my fault that it took me so long to figure myself out,” Mike says thickly, no longer angry, instead just barely holding back tears as he repeats the sentiment that Debbie has spent so long trying to get him to believe. He’s not sure why this is the thing pushing him towards accepting it as truth, but he means it when he says it—means it, too, when he continues with, “It’s not my fault that it was hard for me to understand how I felt. It’s not my fault that I didn’t realize what it was until after you moved on. That’s not—that’s not my fault, Will.”
mike's queer journey happens a little later than will's. that doesn't mean it's any less real or valid. or: 4 of mike wheeler's birthdays and the ways things change.

Summary
Steve's chest rises and falls with a sickening stuttered rhythm. His face shines, soaked with sweat, and Will remembers what it looks like wet with blood. Sweat is just as horrifying. Steve's enemy is no longer one that he can beat back with his fists, with a weapon in his hands and a loyal troop at his back. This time, the danger is coming from within. Will envisions strong, tanned hands grasping desperately at his own thin, pale fingers, imagines holding on as Steve mumbles and shakes in fever-induced delirium, thinks about how he would be the constant, the lighthouse on Steve's dark ocean as he fought back the infection and came clawing back into reality. After a long, sleepless night, Steve would blink his eyes open, looking first at the hand enfolded in his own, eyes following the arm up to find Will, the silent sentinel, by his side through it all. He would smile, an exhausted, exuberant grin, eyes shining with devotion, opening his mouth to say—
"You’re insane."
Jonathan heaves a long-suffering sigh, the same one Will hears every time they stop for gas and Jonathan sees the prices. "I've taken care of Will a dozen times when he came down with something just like this, I know what I'm doing."

Summary
“Don’t worry, I’ll do it,” Mike protests weakly, but Will ignores him. “You need to rest, yeah,” he continues softly, swallowing audibly at the thought of Will’s fingers on him again.
“I want to take care of—” Will mumbles, fumbling for gauze and bandages, his focus wavering. Mike notices the flush creeping up Will’s cheeks, bright and vivid against his otherwise pale, tired skin. And it warms something inside Mike, just a little, because Will wants to take care of him.
or; Mike is confused, and maybe Will offering to take care of his wounds after their encounter with Vecna only makes things worse.

Summary
Mike sighs, looking down at his hands. "I always thought I would end up with someone more similar to me, you know? Someone I can talk about, like, hobbies and music and stuff with, without them visibly losing interest halfway through.”
You have more in common with him than El, says the voice in Will’s head. He wonders, briefly, whether it would be weird to shove his face back into the pillow and scream.
Will is definitely not qualified to be giving out any relationship advice. For one, he's never actually dated anyone before. Second, one of the people in said relationship is his sister. And third, the other person is the guy he's sort of in love with. There's no possible way this could backfire. Right?

Summary
“’Morning,” Mike grumbled, voice low from sleep.
“Noon,” Max corrected, as if she hadn’t only woken up thirty minutes before him.
“Wow,” he replied, squinting at the light. “Nobody thought to wake me?”
It happened casually after that, so casually it almost didn’t register at first. El laughed at something Lucas said, then turned toward Mike and leaned in, instinctively, easily, pressing a kiss to his lips like it was the most logical way to say good morning to him.
.........
or: Mike and Will have been together for a year and a half when El comes back. The problem is, El assumes she and Mike are still together. The bigger problem is that Mike doesn’t realize Will thinks he might choose her.
