Summary
“So…” the female guard whispered, “Do you know what really happened in the war room?”
The three other guards leaned in around the lunch table and then they all looked towards Sokka expectantly. It accrued to the water tribe boy that the story of the banished Prince was practically a legend in the Fire Nation. A “ghost” story used to scare children. It’d be weird if Sokka got up and left now. They’d rightly assume that he sympathized with their hated Prince...
He wanted to leave. But...
He didn’t have a choice, did he?
Basically: Sokka hears the story of how Zuko got his scar from some guards during the Boiling Rock and he doesn’t know how to deal with this information.

Summary
Presumed dead at sixteen, Zuko survives in the forests of the Earth Kingdom among fighters who would despise him if they knew the truth.
He fights beside them for two whole years. He protects them. He never corrects them.
He still believes in the Fire Nation — he just doesn’t say it out loud.
When a supply raid goes wrong and he’s stranded on a Water Tribe ship bound for open sea, Zuko tells himself staying aboard is strategy.
Unfortunately, the ship’s lead strategist is sharp-eyed, sharper-tongued, and entirely too interested in why a stranger fights like a soldier.
The ocean is wide.
The space between enemies is not.

"This isn’t a game, it’s her life. I’m not about to let Yue in the hand’s of a fuck know’s who from the nation that just a few years ago was trying to dizimate our people. If no one else’s gonna look out for her, I will, and if that means keeping you in line, it’s exactly what I’m gonna do.”
he’s too stunned to make up a comeback, even a little toutched for all the care he seems to hold for her, if not for the way he basically told zuko he wants his head on a platter. With a frown, the prince walks off, leaving zuko alone in the hallway staying perfectly still, eyes wide, slightly parted lips in shock, and all he can think about is... Well shit.
