Keith glared at his soulmate, feeling the risk of this plan. His eyes caught on the soul mark imprinted on his skin and let his guard down for a moment.
“We shouldn’t be together and angry," he finally said, quietly. “We should calm down. You have no idea how difficult it is for me to even be in this room with you. I have to stop myself from holding you down, from drinking from you. Your blood calls to me and the bond being so close makes it harder.”
Lance swallowed, eyes wide. “It’s fine,” he spoke up. “Honestly seeing you all annoyed and angry just makes it that much better for me. You’re… You’re gorgeous. You are driving me crazy.”

Chapter 2 - The Best Worst Decision
This was possibly the dumbest thing Keith had ever done.And given his history of defiant and reckless behaviors throughout his life, there was a pretty long list to choose from.
But when it came to doing things he definitely knew he should not be doing, situationally, ethically, logistically, this ranked in the top ten.
It was a tough mission, he argued with himself, he deserved a breather.

Lance’s eyes flew open to the familiar shadows of his bedroom, pulling in deep shaking breaths. The wind was gone but the rainfall was clattering down, erasing any sounds except his own. The memory was fading, now too, just like his dream, disappearing until it was only a whisper, until it was gone. He found a pen and scribbled words on his hand, scraps of whatever he could think of to help him in the morning, exhaustion spreading through him with every stroke.
When he awoke again, the sun was out and the birds were singing from their nests in the eaves. He had slept well, refreshed and cheerful in the early morning. His body was heavy, but he thought maybe he’d had a nightmare. The only thing that confused him as he hopped out of bed was the burn mark on his sleeve and the writing he found on his palm.

"Lance had watched Keith Kogane win a bar fight with a broken hand, rip open a keg with a knife, and complete a whole wretched ensemble of activities you definitely shouldn’t do with a beer in hand.
And yet here he was, glittery Sharpie in hand, waiting to sign Lucy’s copy of Altea.
Lance opened his mouth to say something arguably rude and not appropriate for their current audience. Until he remembered that he himself had either watched or participated in these activities and was now holding a four-year-old containing his DNA. So Lance didn’t have much of a leg to stand on either."
When Lance runs into his ex-boyfriend at a children’s book signing, he not only finds out that Keith Kogane ages like fine wine, but he also apparently wrote his daughter’s favorite book. As Keith lingers in town, Lance frantically tries to keep his daughter from realizing that the writer is not only a person from Lance’s past, but a character in her bedtime stories as well.
