    Alastor has returned to Rome with one goal: revenge. Vox must pay for using and discarding him to advance his political career. But a clandestine meeting in a bathhouse introduces Alastor to a skeletal man who rivals Vox in his ability to get under Alastor’s skin—and embroils both of them in a plot that involves emperor Lucifer’s daughter, a sacred goose and a heck of a lot of wedding cake.
