Noise continues to filter in, laughing and shouting, distant music. Far away, people are partying. Maybe... maybe you could just... leave? Un-not-invite yourself and eat a bunch before drowning yourself in alcohol, or something.
Never mind, you perk up physically; that sounds like a great idea. Not having to deal with your thoughts right now sounds like genuine heaven handed to you on a platter. As long as you're careful enough to not run into your friends, you'd probably be fine. You need air, a distraction. And Mirabelle looks so tired... you look at her, turning your head. You don't want to accidentally disturb her by being here.

Summary
Between two dark buildings, an emporium and an apartment, sits a small slice of an alleyway. A streetlight flickers in front of the alley, illuminating it in small fractions. It’s nothing, just a sliver of shadow between brick and concrete. But to Sean, it looks like a miracle.
He almost starts crying in relief.
“H-hey, look. We can sleep there for the night.” Sean points toward behind the shuddering streetlamp, fingers trembling. He squeezes Daniels hand again. “And maybe we can- uh” He stutters, “Ride the train again tomorrow.” The words sound forced, but Daniel still looks up at him, large eyes shining.
“O-okay.” He sniffs. “I like the train.”

Summary
Derek Hutchins wakes up after being in a coma for months. He's alive, so is the King, and they both shouldn't be.
As soon as he finds confirmation that the King in Yellow still exists within his mind, -a haunting, lurking presence, ready to take over at any point- Derek forms a plan. He knows what he must do - it won't be easy, it'll hurt people, he'll lose his second chance at life, but it's the only option he has. If he wants to keep the World safe; to keep the people he loves safe, he has to.
But fate is funny, because just as Derek is about to take his life, Avery finds him again.
