    Summary

Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng get competitive over spending time with Wei Wuxian. It’s a little exhausting for him, but it’s also very endearing! Wei Wuxian feels so loved! And what with all the time the three of them now spend together, he even thinks Jiang Cheng and Lan Zhan might eventually get used to each other! Like when you toss two hissing cats into the same room, and yeah, they kind of hate each other, but they unite in hating everyone else even more.

Unless, of course, those heated glares between Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng aren’t just competitiveness...?

Possessive LWJ and competitive JC; immovable object, unstoppable force, with WWX as the gravitational center, means a collision was inevitable. (Cute!!)

Thrown into an alternate reality by a Branch O' Time tm, Jiang Cheng is shown -- by another version of himself -- that if he can be honest and not jump to conclusions, maybe the triple-married life is not so far out of reach.

Fun dialogue and character dynamics; the mortifying ordeal of having your deepest secrets casually revealed by a happier, more well-adjusted version of yourself.

Would love a sequel of this!

    Summary

“Oh, wow, yeah, see, this is way better,” Wei Wuxian says. “Jiang Cheng, here, c’mon—”

Jiang Cheng makes a confused noise, then squawks and drops his weight unhelpfully as Wei Wuxian tries to haul him forward by his grasp on Jiang Cheng’s bloodstained belt. “What? No! Are you crazy? I’m not sleeping with Lan Wangji!”

Lan Zhan, who had been striding across the clearing toward them, robes a-swirl, pulls up abruptly like he’s run into an invisible wall.

    - - -

It’s Jiang Cheng and Lan Wangji, rather than Jin Zixuan, who arrive at Qiongqi Pass as Jin Zixun is attacking Wei Wuxian. This turns out significantly better than it does in canon!

Unfortunately, during the attack, Jiang Cheng is hit with a curse that can only be healed with magic qi-transferring sex. And since Wei Wuxian, secretly coreless, can’t do it, he’ll just have to persuade Lan Wangji to step up instead.

Acute qi infusion/totally-not-dual-cultivation/JC-invented-triple-cultivation-actually : THE FIC. In which Jiang Cheng gets cursed, Lan Wangji is obviously the best solution, and Wei Wuxian absolutely Loves Solving Problems.

    Excerpt:
<“I’m here,” Wei Wuxian says. Not quite a reply, but more just the shock of it. Astonishment that he is here, with Lan Zhan under his mouth, panting and miraculous, with Jiang Cheng, pinned safe and pliant in the curve of Wei Wuxian’s body—here, with them. “I’m here, I’m right here...">

Yuuuup the good shit. P.s. IT TOOK THREE YEARS FOR THIS MASTERPIECE AND IT WAS MORE THAN WORTH IT.

    Summary

Matthew arrived in Korea untouched by Hanbin’s world, soft in ways that still belonged entirely to himself.

Now even the language in his mouth carries traces of Hanbin’s hands all over it.

Hanbin still remembers the first time Matthew called him our Hanbin hyung instead of just Hanbin hyung.

    Our.

    Such a small word.

    It wrecks him for weeks.

Matthew learns Korean through Hanbin so thoroughly that eventually the language itself begins to feel shared between them. Matthew carries traces of Hanbin in the way he speaks now. In the cadence. In the phrasing. In the softened edges of his accent whenever he gets tired enough to stop thinking before talking and it's the most devastating thing Hanbin has ever experienced in his life.

Hanbin psychoanalyzes his cuteness aggression for Matthew, and the two of them are equally intense about each other. The world is balanced.

    Bookmarker's Notes

This is the Jiang Cheng/Lan Wanji epic that should define a literary genre. The "unreliable narrator" trope should have this entire story embedded in the definition. When your protagonist believes a lie, and his beloved believes an opposite lie, what happens? What happens when canon has planted plenty of seeds to rot and bloom into a different take on soulmateship? The soul of Zidian threads through this story like embroidery that glows under moonlight. The sentimentality of Lan Wangji, the self hatred and gradual self acceptance of Jiang Cheng, the enduring support that each of them demonstrates for each other... Fighting brothers, fighting the Divine Heavens themselves, fighting every attempt to tear them apart. The beauty of rebuilding and rebuilding again and again. The painful canon event that is Wei Wuxian lost to darkness, and how this version lashes out at Jiang Cheng specifically. The tragedy of a promise broken. The peace of trusting your brilliant, imperfect partner to always have your back, and having theirs -- always that security. Hours and hours, returning to campfires in the woods, to small broken beds, to fans painted with ugly teapots... The planning it took to maintain continuity through half a million words is an absolute feat of legends. I feel bereft and fulfilled and depressed and relieved to have experienced this masterpiece. Please preserve this work, never delete. I must reread and relive this Jiang Cheng, who is so broken and strong, and Lan Wangi who is so steadfast and dedicated, to appreciate again the artistry of a master storyteller.
