Summary
“He saw me, where Mystra didn’t.”
It’s late now. Astarion sits with Gale beneath the starless night and watches him polish his sword. A slip of the blade draws blood; unfazed, Gale brings his finger to his lips, and tastes it with naked rapture. In the waning moonlight, the rot is more obvious than ever before. It snakes past his waistband, branches over his throat.
Astarion hums softly. “Bhaal?”
A nod. “He saved me.” Gale shuts his eyes. “He talks to me. Listens to me, understands me, believes in me, rewards and respects and adores me.”
A pause. Overhead, the wind is silent.
“He loves me. And in turn, I grant him my devotion.”
In search of a cure for the tadpole in his head, Astarion encounters Bhaal's newest Chosen, and finds himself biting off far more than he can chew.

"What's a clever man like you doing in a place like this, darling?" Astarion asks with a smile. This isn't the first time he's run into one of his old companions all shiny and new —it's as if the world only contains a certain number of people and after a long enough time it has to reuse some of the old ones— but this is the first new Gale.

Summary
Through the veil of flames, out steps some infernal creature in the shape of a man. Ruby eyes, so vibrant they would strike envy into the heart of the Lady of Love herself, seem to pierce through to his very soul with a predatory gleam, and unnaturally pale lips twist into an even more wicked smirk. A spot of blood—curse the Nine Hells, that must be Gale’s—shines at the corner of its mouth, and a tongue darts out to lick it away. The flames that birthed this devil into his realm paint streaks of orange into waves of silver hair that sweep across its brow and curl around pointed ears. Gale’s heart rabbits against his ribs, and he dares not to so much as breathe as the creature saunters away from its infernal paper prison and lands ominously close to him.
“Well, hello, darling,” the creature all but purrs, “I take it you are who I have to thank for letting me out of my cage.”
For once in his life, Gale is at a loss for words.

After Mystra robbed Gale of his ability to harness the Weave, Gale seeks to enter an infernal contract to regain his powers and gets much, much more than he bargained for.

Summary
An AU of Buffy starting in season 5-- We pick up after Buffy's first encounter with Glory, when she's just learned about the truth about her sister Dawn. This is a slow, slow burn Spuffy fic with scenes centered around those two. The first canon divergence is simple -- Spike encounters Buffy on her way home after getting pummeled by Glory and having a bomb dropped on her by the dying monk. He is struggling with accepting his feelings for her, but ends up trying a slightly less unhinged approach to building trust and winning her affections.
The road is long and winding, and honestly this started as a single scene where Spike cheers Joyce and Dawn up by dancing with them and then it just... got away from me. We stay close to canon with a lot of little changes, and eventually find ourselves in a place with a lot more tenderness.

Astarion thrived on the ruination of Gale Dekarios; it was a vicious means to a delicious end. Twice a year, for the last ten years, the Little Shit found new ways to make his obliviously overworked husband become unleashed.
The first time this dangerous long-form duel came into existence, the flames burned too intensely— too hot, too consuming, too raw— and it left both men gasping for relief with salt pricking their eyes and misunderstood agony. But, Astarion learned the shape of it; he learned how impersonal this trial-by-combat had actually been to his husband and that the elf had not been to blame for such… cruelty. And ever the Little Shit that the elf was, he learned to love stirring the fucking pot.
All that beautiful mess of Gale Dekarios coaxed into a confident, brutal mess.
Today would be the day that all that teasing, dry rot hucked carelessly and wantonly onto the metaphorical fire would erupt into the most glorious fireball. At least… that was the plan. A nice, simple plan. All it involved was destroying the man he loved.

TLDR: based on my recent play-through where Gale absolutely solo-ed Lorroakan and I really don't like that he has absolutely no good comebacks for the easiest target in the game

A couple of years after defeating the First (and dragging Spike back from LA), Buffy's settled into a good life. She has her friends and her sister and the Slayer school all up and running in Scotland. To top it all off, Buffy and Spike have settled into a good working friendship. It's great. Everything is totally great. Well, Buffy could do without this cold. It's not easy being a girl from SoCal in the UK.
Except, this winter, this winter might be here to stay unless Buffy (and Spike, of course) can put the seasons back to rights.

Though Gale was immune to Astarion’s feigned charm, he was coming to realize he wasn’t nearly as safe from the authenticity the vampire hid behind it.
