Summary
The inn does look like a pirate tourist trap; it's unmistakable. Their guests show up asking about Blackbeard or The Gentleman Pirate, paint the names they've been trying to leave behind on the signs. Their old crew shows up to do some pirate networking. It's all the things Ed wanted to leave behind, right there in their living room.
But despite it all, despite all the little annoyances, and their failed attempt to leave piracy behind completely… Ed seems happy. He really does seem happy.
“It's wonderful,” says Stede. He doesn't take his eyes off Ed's face, off the way the firelight shines in his eyes. “Everything we wanted.”

Ed's head shoots up, almost automatically. Months-old instincts fighting to come through; the voice makes him want to smile, makes him want to call out in return.
But it's—but he can't, and it's fucking impossible, and he must still be asleep, or—hallucinating; Jim did get him over the head; or… just—something, because this can't be real. It can't be happening.
He's not here.

Martin’s first official day as an archival assistant goes much better than he’d expected. Not that he’d expected it to be bad! He’d been quite looking forward to it actually, it’s just that Martin is generally on edge. As it happens, he needn't have worried. Tim and Sasha are lovely.
Plus there’s Jon. Even if Tim and Sasha hadn’t been perfectly lovely and easy to get along with, Martin would have been able to get through it all just for the sake of getting to spend more time with his husband during the work week.
