Summary
Kat has deep affection for Susanna, but it's like having a sister or best friend who understands you and makes you feel seen and less alone in the world. But for Susanna, I truly believe her feelings towards Kat were of the romantic nature, the "My Katherine" painting, and many other instances based on her behaviours, words, and actions, lead me to this conclusion.
So I wrote a quick little poem and made a digital image where I try to eloquently paint a summarized picture of the way I see Kat and Susanna 's friendship/bond, I thought I would share with you all.

Summary
He notices it the most when she thinks no one is watching her. Her gaze is strangely vacant, empty if she's not focused on anything at the moment, her nails in her mouth. Emily's eyes light up when he steps into her line of sight, and at first, he's giddily happy about it, but soon he realizes that he's the only thing keeping her tethered, keeping her afloat. Aaron can see her slipping away, and his heart breaks every time her smile turns tight and fake, eyes sad. Emily keeps shrugging off all of his attempts to help, claiming that she's fine and that he makes her happy. It's not a lie and he knows that, but watching the person he loves fall away to nothing before his very eyes makes the place between his ribs burn.

Emily wonders momentarily how she could have never noticed them before, but realises that this might be the first time he has truly been Aaron in her presence. He is beaming when he catches her gaze and she grins right back, rolls her eyes performatively so he knows the smile she is sporting is due to the antics of the table, and not because she has just discovered a new goldmine.
His unguarded smile, not the tiny quirk of his lips that can produce a dimple or two, but the broad grin of someone relaxed and happy. She loves his laughter lines, files this away for later, and knows that her new mission is to be the cause of this particular smile.
