“There is a rumour going through the Ratniki that you and grandmaster Varka have grown quite close.” Illuga adds to the quiet between them.
Flins pauses his shuffling to look across at Illuga. He furrows his brows and his glowing eyes study the man, unblinking. Illuga’s silver hair obscures the swirl of colour in his left eye, but he’s observant of Flins nonetheless.
“We are merely connected through circumstance.” Flins supplies, “Though I have grown to consider him a friend.”
“Right.” And it’s deadpan, but Illuga is still looking at him. The set of his shoulders is relaxed against the lumpy wood of his chair back and he makes a grab for the next card Flins deals him. Cards soaked in azure lamplight, purified by Illuga’s touch.
How interesting.
