Kaito puts his thumb through Shuichi’s hair. “Your health comes first though, sidekick. You know that, right?”
“I do.” Shuichi offers him a little smile, sweet, if petulant. Kaito already knows he’s going to argue before he’s opened his mouth. “It’s not a permanent thing. Just until I can get this done… I think I’ll be able to sleep in an hour or so…”
Kaito would be very impressed if Shuichi had an hour left in him. He leans a little closer, biting the inside of his cheek against a grin of his own when Shuichi conspicuously leans away, as if aware that proximity to Kaito could put him to sleep. Without that tool at his disposal, Kaito changes tracks, moving his other hand to rest on Shuichi’s shoulders too and squeezing.
“Well, can you spare ten minutes? Sun’s about to rise, I could use the company.”

With Shuichi working himself to the bone, Kaito employs his own, if slightly underhanded methods to get him to get some much-needed rest.
