Summary
Since the tribunal, Harry Du Bois can’t qualify with his own service weapon — and Lieutenant Kitsuragi has a fix for that.
The range, after hours. Signed out under Kim’s name. Gloves left in a drawer on purpose. He steps in close behind Harry’s shoulder, bare hands settling at his hips, the whole warm front of him flush down Harry’s back, cheek to cheek — to correct his stance, on the record — and stays there, breath at Harry’s ear, for as long as the word again requires.
Sight down the barrel. Breathe out. Through the trigger.
The parliament is having a parliamentary emergency. Kim’s hands have not moved. And he hasn’t told Harry yet what happens if he makes the shot.

Summary
ENDURANCE – The whisper of Kim’s fingers against your skin remains even as you swallow the capsules with two generous mouthfuls of water (if just to prove that you’re grateful).
KIM KITSURAGI – “Good,” Kim says, and screws the cap back onto the bottle. He bends down to put it on the coffee table, condensation quickly drawing a wet ring against the dark wood. The shadows where the light from the small window doesn’t hit him round out his features. It makes him look softer. “Big day ahead.”
He makes a little noise like he’s amused at himself.
or, kim moves to the 41st precinct.

Summary
The legends called his kind les visiteurs de la nuit. Despite the stories, Kim had never once gone into a sleeping person’s room with the intention of feeding. He found his sustenance among the drunk and lustful crowds of Boogie Street, his meals a mutually beneficial exchange.
Until he let himself get distracted. He missed the warning signs, and now he was trapped in Martinaise, desperate to feed, and with no viable candidates except the one man in all Revachol who should be off-limits: his temporary partner, the nameless detective from the 41st Precinct.

Summary
[Each time he wakes, it’s for a little longer. The tide recedes, exposing dull pain, frayed nerve endings; offering split flesh up to an unrelenting sun. Sometimes Jean is there, in that chair by the bed, the shadows beneath his eyes sketched in blue, and in the moments between sleep and sleep again their eyes meet, and there’s a smile in there somewhere, just out of reach; there’s a desperate kindness lodged in the bloody meat of his chest like shards of something broken.
(this is a place where people come to die.)]
Kim is shot at the tribunal. Jean stays with him.
