    In another universe, The Crown Prince of Xian Le, Xie Lian, did not ascend as a martial god, but as a god of flowers, a minor god.

    A minor god who made a mistake, and was punished, sealed in his own little portion of heaven with barely any power, indebted to the Heavenly Officials for their mercy and kindness. He spends his days in isolation, occasionally visited by gods when they want him for their festivals. He cannot refuse.

    All days were nice. All days were the same.

    Until a new 'god' visited, one draped in red with a large, red butterfly perched on his shoulder.

    “Hello, Gege. You can call me San Lang.”

    Lan Wangji turns, eyes sharp. He wants to protest, to object, but he can’t say anything. He’s in a similar situation. He has no power over Wei Ying’s betrothal. But that doesn’t stop his heart from shouting out in rage. Wei Ying deserves to marry someone he loves, not just the first suitor who appears. He deserves to be happy in his marriage.

    And then Wei Ying’s eyes flutter open. He gasps dramatically as if he’s made a new discovery. He turns to Lan Wangji with something bordering on excitement edging into his grin. His breath smells like wine and spice and his voice is excited in the way it always is when he’s plotting a new prank or scheme. “Aiya! Lan Zhan!”

    Lan Wangji feels something bordering on fear bubbling in his chest. “Mn?”

    “Let’s get married!”
