Carl lets himself be backed up until they hit the wall, cushioned by coats and scarves and hats that might, if they’re lucky, dampen the sound of Carl’s skull thumping against the plaster as Bob kisses him insistently and cards his fingers through Carl’s hair in apology. Carl’s zipper sounds terribly loud in the quiet apartment, even quieter now that Rachmaninoff has stopped playing.

In the depths of the Watergate case, Carl Bernstein finds him and his investigative partner Bob Woodward a promising lead. However, Bernstein has to travel to Miami, Florida in order to meet the contact. He's thrilled...Woodward on the other hand is not, he doesn't like being separated from his partner.
Much to his surprise, Bernstein left a little reminder of himself behind in Woodward's apartment where they had spent the night together. Woodward decides to make a special call to Bernstein's hotel room after he finds the surprise and what ensues next leaves both of them hungry for more.

Woodward got the feeling that Bernstein already didn’t like her. She was so straight laced compared to the other woman, and, not to mention, she was the weaker writer of the two. Everything she brought over to Bernstein’s desk would promptly be snatched out of her neatly manicured hands, and Bernstein would read it over, and she would almost always make some rude comment about it.

The infuriating thing, Carl thought as he licked his wounds over by a side table serving as a holding place for discarded champagne glasses, was that crooked bowtie or not, Woodward looked good in a tux. No penguin comparisons for Bob Woodward, no; he wore the ridiculous get-up as easily as Carl imagined he had once worn his navy uniform. Carl wanted to tear it off him. Not all the way; just one sleeve, maybe. Just enough to disrupt that handsome, symmetrical silhouette and put Woodward as off-balance as Carl felt.
