Summary
It had been close to a year since Victoria’s first day at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center. Close to a year since she met Cassie. They had gotten off to somewhat of a rocky start, but over time, they had become friends, or as close to friends as you can get with your mentor who is twice your age.
Victoria wasn’t sure when, exactly, her feelings towards Cassie shifted from a healthy respect and admiration to an all-consuming need for the older woman. Looking back, the swoop of her stomach the first–and only–time Cassie had snapped at her should have been somewhat of a hint, but she had interpreted that feeling as embarrassment mixed with a healthy dose of shame.
----
Or, Victoria has spent months pushing down her feelings for Cassie until one close call in a bar pushes her to come clean.
Based on ‘drop dead’ by Olivia Rodrigo.

Summary
The woman slowly opened her eyes. They were piercing, and currently burning of exhaustion, pain, and profound irritation. And wow–they’re green. Victoria feels lightheaded now. She's really pretty, actually.
"If you try to slap a C-collar on a bruised tibia," the woman huffed, "I’ll go back to my car and hit you myself.”
Or: It's the first day of Victoria's shift. She hits someone with her car.

Summary
Cassie McKay was a legend in women's softball. Nearly 25 years on the national team, she was one of the oldest players around.
Hollywood starlet Victoria Javadi has made a name for herself outside her parents' successes.
When their secret relationship is suddenly public - viral, no less - the pair navigate public perception, family opinion, and a deep desire to be loved by the other.
Or in other words:
“I mean, I grew up watching Cassie McKay play. She’s been captain of the national softball team for years and she’s still competing at the highest level at forty. That kind of longevity in women’s sport is incredible.”

Summary
Everyone keeps telling Samira she needs to get laid. But she can’t do something serious right now, and what’s the point of something casual when historically, her casual hookups kinda sucked, or at least were hardly worth the effort? She needs someone who knows what she needs. She needs someone who knows what they’re doing.
So when Cassie McKay makes herself available after a particularly long shift, it’s easy, it turns out, for Samira to ask for what she needs.
******
“I’m not straight,” she tells her beer. “Just because I haven’t done more than kissed anyone who’s not a cis guy since college doesn’t mean I’m straight.”
Princess smacks the table. “I knew it!” she crows. “Santos owes me $20.”
“Serves her right for assuming,” Samira snorts. She shakes her head, ears growing hot.
McKay cuffs her on the shoulder. She steps into Samira’s light, her chain glinting around her throat.
“Trinity probably thinks she knows every queer girl—and girl-adjacent queer—in the Pittsburgh area,” she says, smiling. Her eyes are warm and bright. “Not all of us need to proclaim it.”
