Summary
The Battle of Ostagar ended in fire and blood, but King Cailan Theirin survives, rescued from the brink of death by an unexpected ally. Scarred, humbled, and stripped of the certainty of kingship, he joins the Wardens on their quest to confront the Blight. As Ferelden teeters on the edge of chaos, Cailan must navigate a world he once ruled while forging uneasy alliances, confronting the legacy of his father, and discovering what it truly means to lead—not only as a Warden, but as the King that Ferelden deserves.
This is a Fix-It fic where Cailan does not die at the Battle of Ostagar, and is instead rescued before he can succumb to his injuries. There will be lots of character development. Consider this fanfiction to be highly canon-divergent.
