He doesn't mind it too much, per se- he's employed, he's somewhat cared for, and he gets to perform his own research, but still, something his missing. When he meets Jayce, an overly eager Topsider that is working on something revolutionary, he wants to believe that it will do the entire underground some good. He can't be sure, but all he knows is that he doesn't mind the extra attention and funding Jayce throws his way.
