He’d always loved birthdays, his naivete and relative obliviousness carrying the joy he’d felt as a child on his birthdays well into adulthood, the idea of receiving gifts and having his friends around beating the festivities of all other holidays and celebrations to make each of his birthdays particularly special. Rubbing his eyes, he sat there for a moment, allowing himself to wake up as he peeled back the curtain to see the sunlight pouring in front outside.
