I thought too much about what might’ve been going on pre calamity and accidentally wrote a short novel instead of a oneshot. Expect angst, sadness, and some cute friendship moments that might end up making the ending we all know even sadder.

Summary
Zelda is a popular high school senior whose hobbies include theater, the school senate, and fighting with the Vice Principal (who seems to have a personal vendetta against her). Link is her aloof classmate with a motorcycle, two friends, and a bad reputation that steers most people far away from him before he can even say 'hi.' After years of never talking to each other, a brief project in their ASL class has them noticing the other more and more, and they realize that there's more to the other person than meets the eye. And they're about to figure out that life isn't meant to be lived alone.

Immediately after the events of BotW, Link and Zelda reestablish their relationship with one another as they journey together to restore Hyrule. Along the way, a mysterious voice tasks them both with reliving memories of a century before, filling in the gaps for Link by showing interactions between him and others, including his own Royal Guard father. Although painful, their task is necessary before they can fully move on to the challenge that awaits them deep below Hyrule Castle.
