Summary
As if under a spell, she leaned in again and pressed a light kiss to the corner of his lips.
It had been gentle and brief – but this time, his breathing did change: not abruptly, not in any way that suggested he was startled, but enough that she noticed, and knew that he wasn’t sleeping anymore.
“You’re awake,” she murmured, the words slipping out low and quiet, trying to not disturb the quietness of the morning.
There had been a pause, then along with a small stretch, a soft sound came from Xie Zheng – sleepy and ridiculously comfortable even from her outsider view.
“Mm.”
Her hand drifted up to smooth over his beautiful hair in a gentle caress automatically, making Xie Zheng simply melt under her touch with a satisfied hum.
But she noticed the faint, smug smirk in the corner of his lips – entirely at odds with the soft atmosphere. It didn’t take long for her to figure out why he had that expression on his face.
Her eyes narrowed slightly, watching him with a mixture of exasperation, fondness, and slight embarrassment due to her actions.
“You were pretending,” she accused him, pursing her lips, feeling betrayed.

Hesitantly, Youngwoo eyes his hand a moment before tentatively slipping her own into it. She lets him guide her down next to him where he perches on his bed, and is grateful when he then releases her hand, lifting his own to her face and brushing back her hair instead. Holding hands was still a bit of a sticking point for her - perhaps it was one of those things she’d never truly get comfortable with. A telling of the season 2 episode, "Brothers of the Broken Horn" from Kanan's point of view. Because I felt like we were sorely missing the reaction of the crew when they returned to find their youngest member gone. One-shot.
