After awhile the fight started to wear down the cowboy. His shoulders ached as the weight of the sword worked muscles usually underutilized. Sweat glistened off Jed's forehead as he steadied his stance, bringing the sword closer to his chest.
Octavius, on the other hand, looked magnificent. He was panting but the smile on his face showed that he was still abound with energy. "Getting tired, old friend?"
Jed let out a chuckle, laughing through huffs of breath. He rolled his shoulders back and shook out his arms. "Oh, I'm just getting started, partner."

octavius being manipulated by livia to drop every contact and jedediah dealing with that, his parents passing away, taking care of his brothers and almost losing the farm is just oh my goddd 🙏🙏 -

Jedediah teases his men for fawning at their girlfriends and wives, and doesn't even notice he does the same thing with Octavius. That is, twisting his hat, and singing that stupid song all the settled men sang.
Or;
"So, hey I jus' wanna thank ya for savin' me back there pal," Jedediah said to Octavius the next night. He had realised he ever probably thanked his friend, and without Octavius' help, he'd be dead.
"You have nothing to thank me for —" Started Octavius, but Jedediah cut him off.
"Yes I do, I would'a died if ya hadn't got ta me," Jedediah said, looking down, messing with his fingers. Suddenly, before he knew he was doing it, he tugged off his hat, and was twisting it. "So, I owe you one. Like, big time..."
"You can show your gratitude by not thanking me," assured Octavius, but Jedediah sighed.
"Tavi," Jedediah said, and frowned at Octavius' concerned gaze. "What?"
"Your hat is fraying..."
Jedediah paused, and looked down, and... oh, would you look at that? Frayed cowboy hat... he put his twisted hat on his head, "sorry... look, just... thank you..."

“Yeah, if Mike were way hotter and a knight?” Max chips in, and Will can vaguely hear Mike muttering again. “He looks so medieval, like he’s from Camelot or some shit.”
“I am Michael,” the knight begins to plead again. He turns his doe eyes back to Will, returning to his side like a diligent guard, even going as far as to reach out and take his hands. “Please, you have to believe me. I would never lie to you. Have I ever broken our oath? Let me prove it.”
Will was a bit preoccupied with gazing into the knight’s eyes, his cheeks flushing under the intense stare and the way his hands were held so gently. Mike had no issues ruining their moment.
“And he’s weirdly obsessed with Will.” Mike sounds even angrier than he did in the woods, and his sharp tone is enough for Will to snap out of his hand-holding to step a respectable distance away from the knight. “We need to send him back to wherever he came from.”

Mike the Brave ends up in Hawkins and sweeps Will off his feet. Mike has a lot of Feelings™ about it.
