Sonya is silently swaying into her for a second before moving quickly. She wraps her arms around Coley again, this time facing each other. Her hands graze her exposed back, and she puts her mouth against her ear again. “You look…” and her voice fades out shyly and she breathes shakily into Coley instead. It hits a thousand times harder than any compliment might have and she pulls Sonya just a little closer.
But she’s impossible to hold on to. Sonya pulls back fast, and creates distance. Her eyes are wide and oddly sober as she glances around, as if afraid anyone saw. She locks eyes with Coley, and she looks terrified. Coley lets the rejection simmer this time, and breaks the look first.
It isn’t surprising when she walks past Sonya and Trenton later, tongues and teeth between them. Coley hates him. She leaves the party.aka a mostly canon compliant retelling of the parts of the story because i want to dissect them in a lab and then keep them in a locket close to my heart

“You don’t even have to ask, Coley; I’m all yours whenever.” I give her a soft smile and intertwine our fingers together. I rub my thumb along her pointer finger, while my eyes don’t leave her face. She may not be looking back at me, but that won’t stop me from looking at her. She’s beautiful in the sense that everything behind her turns into a blur. Like a cloud of rainbows surrounds her face and pulls anyone in. There’s no denying that she’s beautiful; anyone can see that. That’s what scares me. What if a guy at school takes her from me? What if suddenly she’s not ready to be with me and wants the normalcy of being with a man? I shouldn’t think like that, especially since she told me she’s done running. We still have a month left until school starts. I have nothing to be worried about.

The crawls were draining everyone. Nancy having to do most of the planning-then constantly being doubted, even though her plans never failed. Her mind was always occupied.
The only thing that grounded her was working with Robin, at the WSQK (squawk). They’d grown closer because of their time together, and Nancy soon found herself wanting to know more. To be with Robin more.
