    Summary

“Ask your question, Susan.” He says her name as tenderly as when he first crowned her for the Sun and the South in Cair Paravel that spring so long ago. She can’t quite remember the last time he called her Susan, not daughter or dear one or Gentle or Queen.

Susan wraps her hands around a chunk of mane each, feeling the warm weight of it settle in her palms, her bones. “Sometimes,” she whispers, “I feel like it would be easier if I could just—forget any of this wasn’t a dream. Don’t you think?”

“That,” says Aslan very solemnly, “is not for me to say.”

(or, susan pevensie on losing narnia, herself, and her family—and perhaps on finding them again.)

    Summary

When he opens his eyes again, he thinks he must be dead already, must not have noticed it happening amidst all the pain and the screams and the chaos. This is because Peter is there above him, looking horrified and afraid, and Peter, he knows, is dead.

I’m sorry, Edmund wants to say to him, but he can’t force the words out past the blood in his mouth. He grasps at Peter’s wrist instead, and is surprised to find it solid.

He’s not dead, as it turns out, and neither is Edmund.

It takes Edmund a long time to start believing that.

(or, peter dies on the stone table, and then he comes back. but the memory of the wound remains.)

    Summary

“What,” Peter asks, curling his fingers tight enough around the honed metal that Caspian inhales sharply, “is the punishment for desertion, among your people?”

Caspian’s throat is very dry. The cut on his palm feels on fire.

“Death,” he replies, and his voice catches entirely on the word.

Peter says, “Well, then,” like an invitation, or a judgement, or the very last word, and when he looks up from the tip of the sword pressing into his jerkin, there is a desolation more complete than the northern wastes in his eyes.

(or, peter and caspian, seeking absolution in the aftermath of their folly.)

In terms of levels, as the League would recognize them, Clodsire—Wooper, then—couldn’t have been higher than single digits. He’d barely learned to execute a Tackle fit to knock berries off the tree in the front yard. Even as the years would continue to stretch ahead of the two of them, barely any Pokémon would ever come as close to ending Rika’s life as he had.

This one, though, is presenting a fierce contender for the position.

In light of abruptly-ceased reports, Rika performs a reconnaissance operation.

    Summary

The soup was nice and warm, Kieran delicately taking each spoonful Florian held out. Somewhere in the back of Kieran’s mind he realised he was being spoon fed by Florian but it didn’t quite register completely, thankfully for him or he might have just died on the spot.

“You know this is probably cause you were so stubborn yesterday.” Florian mused as he deposited another bite. “Even if we did move to the Coastal Biome right afterwards we should have called it quits as soon as you fell into that water in the Polar Biome.”
