Thanks to the rather fickle nature of magic, Mairon winds up in Arda nearly 80 years before Sam and Frodo destroyed the Ring. With a notable sense of aimlessness and plenty of time on their hands, Mairon joins Thorin's Company on their quest to reclaim Erebor.
