Kaiba’s eyes widen the smallest fraction. “Well, you haven’t killed me yet, have you?” he replies, lips twitching. “Seeing as you impulsively stepped in between me and several bullets, I figure the odds are in my favor. Unless something changes.”
“You should stop testing me, then,” Jonouchi mutters.
Kaiba only manages to look even more smug at that.
—Jonouchi’s injured and has to drink Kaiba’s blood, and Kaiba requests a little reciprocation. They’re both unprepared for the consequences.

In a desperate bid to find help before the first deadly Threadfall, bronze rider Yu'gi and the crafter-rider Seto Kaiba travel back to the past to find dragonriders who have fought the deadly spores before. But the trip itself was more physically and mentally taxing than they expected.
A'tem of Ingen Weyr found them washed up on an abandoned stretch of coast and brought them back to recover, but Seto and his dragon aren't talking to anyone, Yu'gi has a head injury, and Yami is just certain everything will be fine once everyone starts talking.
Can the time traveling riders convince the Weyrs of the past to leave everything behind and help them? And what happens to both past and future Perns if they do?
Picks up immediately after Dragonfate, and won't make much sense without the first installment.

In hindsight, a lot of Seto's behavior will make a lot more sense to Mokuba when viewed through the lens of "he is a time traveler who is in love with an ancient pharaoh who will show up, but hasn't yet". Mokuba doesn't have that context in the beginning, though, and it takes him a bit to figure it out.
No, the context Mokuba starts with is this:
On an early morning, Kaiba Seto pushes Kaiba Gozaburo out the window to his untimely demise, in a move that was richly deserved but Mokuba never really saw Seto as doing, before hiring a random fellow high schooler as his secretary. Things only spiral from there, really.
