Summary
He’s noticed before the way that Diluc looks at Zhongli sometimes during their travels. Zhongli doesn’t notice—of course, he doesn’t—but Childe sees it clear as day. There’s a sort of want behind those eyes, a low simmering heat that is sure to boil over if pressured enough. That flaming gaze follows Zhongli everywhere they travel, eyes sweeping over Zhongli’s form with barely concealed interest. It’s bad enough that Diluc seems to hate Childe for being part of the Fatui, he even has the audacity to ogle his boyfriend in such an overt manner.
Finally, Diluc speaks, his rough voice cleaving through the silence: “If you’re busy, I can leave.” Even then, he makes no sign of moving, eyes trained on their mussed-up forms.
It only takes Childe a split second before he comes to a decision. Childe, if anything, is an opportunist—and he isn’t about to pass this opportunity up.

Or: Diluc thinks he's being subtle in his attraction to Zhongli, but Childe is more perceptive than he thinks.
