Summary
What if James' right hand had been covered in Sherlock's blood when he shot the soldier?
~~~
“James, we need to go,” the Princess calls.
James is looking at his left hand, stained with the blood of the first man he’s killed, and his right hand, lying against the ground, red with Sherlock's blood.
He feels wholly different right now to how he had felt watching Sherlock get shot. He had felt only a desperation to be there, to hold the blood in, to keep his life from draining from his eyes. He had wanted to hold Sherlock, to cradle him away from the cold ground.
He runs his fingers over the blood of the soldier, and he knows he doesn't feel what the stories tell him he should feel. He felt horror only minutes ago, and this, this isn’t horror.
Summary
Leon remembers walking through the forest, still feeling woozy after nearly losing his life. Or at least that’s what it must be, because he remembers how the forest had been so alive, so vibrant, as he’d wandered through it, making his way back to Camelot. He could feel every brush of wind, hear every rustle in the litter of the floor. The very air hummed with the vibrancy of life around him.
He remembers how that feeling had worn away as he’d returned to Camelot, and found the world just as he remembers leaving it, grey and loud, and utterly without the wonder he found in the forest. He felt sober as he walked into Camelot, wrung out as if after a long night in the tavern.
~~~
Following his run in with the Cup of Life, Leon finds the forest calling to him. What is revealed to him changes everything.

Summary
In the weeks following being revived by the Cup of Life, strange circumstances have been following Leon. The fire in his chambers seems to light and douse itself, the wind dances across his face, and water seems to caress his hands. But nothing is stranger than the root that shoots straight up from the ground to save his life from an arrow aimed at his heart. And stranger still is the answering blossom of warmth in his chest when it does.
But what does it mean? Surely, it can't be magic. Magic corrupts. It's to be reviled. He can't have magic.
Can he?
And why is Merlin suddenly so interested in him?

Summary
“Well,” Arthur starts in his snippiest tone, and Merlin’s stomach sinks into the ground at it. He's aware that Arthur blames him, and he can’t even really blame him for that, because the whole thing kind of was his fault. “Well. Are you happy with yourself, Merlin? Are you pleased with your brilliant plan? Your oh-so-excellent plan, which has left us stranded in the middle of the woods with no food, no horses, no knights, and no hope of getting to Caerleon in time."
“You didn’t think it was such a terrible plan when it saved your life!” Merlin yells back.
~~
A skirmish with a pack of unhappy sorcerers leaves Merlin and Arthur stranded with no resources in the middle of the snow. A simple task of walking to Caerleon becomes just a little more difficult when ancient magic ignites itself, leading to banter, longing and even a water fight.

Magic may be free now, but Arthur paid the price for it. Merlin could fill Camelot with his regret, and on the winter solstice, he finally does.

Summary
Merlin fell in love with Arthur all at once.
Or maybe it was more like falling off a cliff. What took mere moments felt like an eternity as the initial misstep turned into a slow and panicked tumble straight off a cliff.
It was a normal day at first. Well, a normal day would’ve started in the castle, so maybe not normal, but at least not so irregular as to be suspicious. Definitely not strange enough to have led to Merlin’s downfall, but here they were.

Summary
When Arthur organises a romantic picnic for Merlin and Leon, the consequences are far wider than he ever expects.
~~~
"How do I find this Cup of Life?" Leon asks, because action and movement and making plans to save Merlin is much easier than wrestling with the knowledge that Merlin may very well have been a sorcerer the whole time they’ve known him. A sorcerer who regularly dealt with Arthur's tantrums and socks.
"It is more a question of the cup finding you. The cup lives on the Isle of the Blessed, a place that cannot be reached without magic, guarded by wyverns. It will be no mere journey to get there. You will tested along the way, in every way magic can think to do so. And only with pure intentions and a clear conscience will the cup allow you to take it."
In the midst of a war, a small crew find themselves marooned on a planet, with little more than determination and O'Brien's engineering skills. Unfortunately, this isn't the beginning of a romcom, but for Julian and Garak, it's their first chance in too long to steal moments of time with one another.
Summary
The doors to the theatre weren’t due to open for quite a while, so Darla was doing something she quite enjoyed doing: people watching.
The most interesting couple were off in the corner together. A taller man was leaning heavily against a wall, a cane clutched firmly in one hand. He was dressed like the other unhappy husbands dragged along. Jeans and a shirt, unkempt facial hair, generally unpleasant demeanour. Next to him was a nice young man. Well dressed in a proper suit that brightened his skin, a lovely sweater under his jacket. He seemed relaxed, a smile never too far from his face.
There was an obvious affection between the two men, despite the taller man's generally unpleasant face. It amused her to know that it seems even queer relationships have the same dynamics.
Summary
With a gasp, Arthur wakes.
He wakes to the warmth of the blankets around him, the sight of the stars above and Merlin’s hand grasping his. He wakes surrounded; by softness, by love, by light. Gasping in breaths, he wakes holding tightly onto Merlin’s hand, tethering himself to the word through that strong, sure grip.
He wakes and he’s not alone and everything's better.
He settles back down, his breath not quite steady yet, but getting there. He holds on tight to Merlin’s hand, looks up at the stars and lets himself drift back off to sleep, safe in the knowledge that he’s free.
~~~
Merlin and Arthur are held captive together for a month in the dark.
Back in Camelot now, the two face all they went through with the help of one another, their friends, and the night sky.

When Aziraphale resurfaces from his book in the morning, he rises to find a parcel on his desk.
It’s a very simple parcel. Brown. Plainly wrapped, with only a navy blue bow around it to signify that it’s not an ordinary parcel. This parcel has all the makings of a gift.
