Summary
“One, are you okay?” Tetra asks, but there’s no time to respond.
Another gleam somewhere ahead of him, and Wind rolls again, but this time he doesn’t go unscathed. The ink rips past his shoulder, and though it’s barely a graze, it burns.
He gasps, his arm locking up instinctively in response to the unexpected pain, but he forces himself to raise his dualies again. He needs more light, and more space to work, and some cover would be nice, too.
“One?” Tetra asks, much more urgently this time.
“Found it,” he chokes out, and then has to dive behind an electrical box to avoid a shot through the head. “Or, it found me.”
Wind, Spirit, Tetra, and Four proudly make up the Inkopolis sector of the New Squidbeak Splatoon, working to monitor and shut down Octarian activity in the area. Things have been quiet for a while, but strange power outages have recently drawn their attention to Octo Valley and force them to investigate.
There are bets going around on whether wild sharks are responsible for causing the outages by chewing on the cables. Spoilers: it's not sharks.
Or, a Linked Universe Splatoon AU!

Summary
“I am not leaving him in there alone,” he continues, starting to loosen the clasp over his shoulder keeping his scarf in place. “He needs us-”
Just then, there’s an audible disturbance in the water. Warriors whips his head around in time to catch a splotch of dazzling pink amidst a cloud of bubbles in the otherwise dark lake, and then a lizalfos genuinely comes flying out of the water. He stares dumbly as it crashes into the deck between him and Twilight, screeching and squirming in pain and fury, with brutal looking claw marks around its face and throat. What the fuck?
When a portal drops the Chain in the middle of a huge lizalfos camp, sprawling halfway across an unknown lake, everyone expects the worst when Legend ends up getting dragged under. They quickly find out just how well he can hold is own in the water, though, and add a new fact to their ever-growing list of Legend's magical abilities.
Or, the Links learn about the mermaid suit, and they're more interested in marveling at the unique transformation than judging Legend for it, much to his surprise. Legend tosses a lizalfos, Warriors makes a fool of himself, and everyone has a good time.

Summary
Wind squints back down at his letter, trying to recall what day it had been right before they left. All the eras have a slightly different calendar, his more rudimentary than most, but even he knows that the timing must be close.
“It’s nothing. This is just a birthday gift from my sister, so I was trying to figure out when my birthday actually is.”
Immediately, everyone in their little group whips around to stare at him. “...What?”
“It’s your birthday?”
Or, the Chain might not be able to throw the most elaborate birthday party while on the road, but turning fourteen is a big deal. No matter how short notice, they'll gladly do whatever they can to make Wind feel special on his big day! (...Even if they probably have the wrong date. Time travel gets confusing, okay? It's the thought that counts.)

Summary
“Great Zephos, they are totally shit-faced-” Wind hisses from over his shoulder, peeking out of the doorway just like Four is. He sounds like he’s having the best day of his life. Maybe he is.
“You’re a good man,” Warriors continues on, entirely oblivious to or uncaring of the audience he has amassed. “Y’ remind me of,” a thick, ugly sniffle, “of m’ own mum.”
“Oh, wow,” Four mutters.
Or, Warriors and Twilight sneak away from the rest of the Chain in the captain's era to enjoy a well-deserved break and celebrate the end of a long, long week. They, uh, might have celebrated a little too hard, because now it takes three separate heroes to drag them to bed and get them to focus for more than five seconds on a subject that isn't their deep, undying, brotherly love for one another.
Tears are shed, drunken heart-to-hearts are had, and lots of blackmail material is collected. At least Four is thoroughly entertained. Written for a sprint prompt in the LU Discord!

Summary
“What are you doing?” Twilight asks, giving a significant look to the book loosely held in his lap. Wind immediately snaps it shut. “Do y’ like the waterwheel?”
“...Is that what it’s called?” Wind asks, keeping his eyes trained on the structure. After a moment of deliberation, he opens the book again and scribbles out his previous note. He can feel Twilight watching him, and when he whips his head up in preparation to deliver a withering glare, he simply finds the rancher looking at him curiously. He deflates a bit, at that.
“Yeah,” the rancher confirms, giving the home across from them another significant look. “Forgot for a minute that you wouldn't've known that.”
Or, the Heroes of Courage are always curious, and Wind is no exception. Sometimes the simplest advancements in one era are groundbreaking in another. There's not a lot of information about what life on the mainland is like in Wind's time, so he's trying to document some of it while he has the chance.
And, unsurprisingly, Twilight is a good brother. Written for a sprint prompt in the LU Discord!

Summary
“Korok!” Wind shouts in excitement, rushing forward to say hello to the little guy.
“Is he… wearing a backpack?” Legend says from somewhere behind him.
“Well, yeah. He’s adventuring,” Wild says, as if it’s the most obvious thing in the world.
“...A backpack three times his size?” Four adds in confusion.
Wild just shrugs, nose deep in his slate, or the Purah Pad, he now calls it. Something about the Sheikah Tech not working anymore and his scientist friend making a replacement.
“Koroks have important things to carry,” he says simply.
Or, a post-Totk Wild has rejoined the chain and finally gets the chance to show off all the new developments in his era! One of those things is backpack Koroks. And, well... when you have someone who loves to use way too many rockets in his contraptions, and a bunch of heroes who don't know how to keep their hands to themselves... you can probably guess what will happen. Summary
Something about Wind—that he tries not to think about very often—is that his hands aren’t very… gentle.
They used to be. For his little sister when he would brush her hair and sing to her before bed, or for his grandma when he would help her with dinner, kneading fluffy dough and swiping at bites of veggies before she could add them into whatever soup she was making that night.
Now, they’ve been torn down and built up so many times that he can barely see past the scar tissue. Hard work and rope burns and a sword through the head of the worst enemy Hyrule has ever known have forced his hands to adapt.

Wind doesn’t have the Hero’s Spirit. This changes everything, and nothing at all.
(Or, three times Legend doesn’t ask about the scars on Wind’s hands, and one time he does.)

Summary
“Do you have a favorite?” Hyrule blurts out, the words obviously meant for Wild even as he keeps his nose tucked in the pages.
“Favorite what?” Wild asks.
“Favorite recipe! You’ve collected so many, tried so many, surely you have a favorite one to eat. Or maybe to make?”
Or, Hyrule gets to take a look at Wild's cookbook, and the people want to know the chef's expert opinion. Written for a sprint prompt in the LU Discord!
