He pressed himself further back into the corner, a snarl coming to his lips. The eye creatures never reacted to his shouting, but they did hesitate when he growled. But when the lanky aliens came around the corner, they didn't so much as look at him. Instead, they were focused on what looked like a stretcher, the kind that ambulances used back on Earth.
Sitting atop it, perfectly still, was another human.
Scar felt his heart stop in his chest. It was impossible. There was no way there was another human on the ship. It had to be a trick of some kind, a robot made to look human, or a statue, or something. This was some sort of experiment, a test to see how he would react to seeing something that looked like his own species.
But they looked so lifelike.

Wild didn’t even want to think about what he must have looked like when he wandered into Kakariko. At the time, he hadn’t understood why Dorian had initially refused to let him up the stairs to Impa’s house. It was a miracle they had eventually let him talk to Impa in the state he had been in.
Since then, he’d learned. Partly from his memories and partly from the kindness of others, he had learned why it was important to keep himself presentable, to brush his hair, and keep it clean, even if he refused to braid it.
He knew many disapproved of him wearing it unbraided. They thought he had done nothing to strip him of that right.

He saw the boy’s hand twitch, as though he wanted to reach for a weapon but thought better of it. Instincts sharp enough to recognise him as a potential threat, but enough situational awareness to know not to pull out a weapon in public…or maybe he just knew the ones he carried would be of little assistance against another human, especially one as skilled as him.
Whatever the case, he nodded once in approval, smirking when the boy’s eyes widened.

His vision became watery with a layer of tears. He refused for them to fall, Gabe didn’t deserve that much. He raced down the stairs, each step strengthening him.
The New York streets at night were quiet, but if you looked into the secluded shadows, they were bustling. Sometimes Percy would witness what would happen in the shadows, teenagers with masks whispering to one another, playing with knives, smuggling things, before he would quickly scurry away. Percy checked his jean pockets while dashing through the streets, the few crumpled dollar bills comforting him as he sighed with immense relief. He spotted a tiny, obscure convenience store across the moonlight-glazed road, the streetlight hanging above it flickering, the smell of petrol and smoke wafting out from the parked cars.
He entered the convenience store, the white lights burning his retinas. He scanned through the aisles, grabbing a ham and cheese sandwich and a metal pack of mints. He silently approached the counter and pushed his items towards the cashier.

This has been a particularly nasty beastie, half mucus-dipping eyeball and half puckered tentacles that would make the Kraken jealous. It’s not as stupid as some of the others, either, hemming Peter in so the kid has nowhere to swing to as the tentacle prepares to take him out.
“Peter!”
The scream rips from his throat involuntarily, he’s too far away and he’s not going to make it in time, only for the tentacle to jerk to a halt as golden loops of light wrap around it and pull tight.
