When the moon was at its zenith, hanging high and shining bright above the Xianzhou, the Preceptors of the Vidyadhara Palace would join hands with the Divination Commission to conduct a special rite— a momentous ceremony that would foresee the identity of the venerated High Elder's bride.
Bride was sugar-coating it. It was just another word for human sacrifice, forced to waste away their days at the dragon lord's side just because some old geezers and a stupid bowl said so. At least, that was how Yingxing saw it.
